Growing Puppies

May 25, 2010

The puppies are all doing well this week. Nearing their two week old birthday. Over the weekend their eyes and ears opened. Once their ears open, puppies start to make more noises. I am now hearing little barking sounds and louder squeals when they are hungry. ๐Ÿ™‚ They are also starting to hold their heads up and try to toddle and scoot more around the whelping box. This litter averages out to be my biggest size wise in puppies. My Orange Collar Male weighed over three pounds at 10 days old and that is the biggest I’ve ever had. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am also enjoying the difference in color of the sable puppies and the black/red ones. This litter has my first sables I have produced as a breeder.

It is still too early to tell much about their personalities. But I do notice a few things as I watch these guys. Red Male seems quite confident…..knows what he wants and gets it. Daisy Female is a little more vocal than the others at this point. It is quite fun and interesting to watch puppies grow and see little things about them start to come out more and more.
