The Puppies’ First Solid Meal

October 15, 2007

Today the puppies enjoyed their first solid meal. Emphasis on the enjoyed part! šŸ™‚ Some got a little more food on the outside of them than on the inside. They are getting a mixture of canned Iams Chicken and Rice, egg yolks, and baby rice cereal mixed up with water to make a soupy gruel. Next week I will start putting softened dry puppy food in the mix. Then I will add less and less water until they are eating dry food. These guys are going to be weaned onto Purina Proplan, Large Breed Puppy Formula.

Yes, little Blue Collar male eats just as much as anyone else! šŸ™‚

Red Collar male is a natural charmer.

Green Collar male.

Liesl is the soul of patience with the whole gang crowding on her to nurse. Do you see the “save me” plea in her eyes? šŸ™‚

Another little thing that is new as of this weekend: the puppies are now sitting up like little dogs. Friday I go in there and look down into the box and little Orange Collar is sitting there looking up at me with a look of achievement in his eyes. By the next day everyone was enjoying their new feat of sitting up.

They are just ADDORABLE! I am sure that Liesl is relieved that she does not have to do all the work now. šŸ™‚
She looks like she is a really good mama to those puppies though!

I didn’t think it was possible, but the puppies are getting even cuter! šŸ˜€ Please give each one a kiss from me. And please give Liesl an extra cookie. She needs it! Love, jl

How fun looking at the pictures of them eating šŸ™‚ I agree with Johannah. The impossible has happened and they grow cuter everyday!
