Puppies Leaving and Another Litter on the Way!

October 29, 2009

The puppies start leaving tomorrow. Heinz is inside with me today. All cleaned up and will stay overnight and go home with his new family tomorrow!

And than, over the next week, the other five will move on to be with their families. :)

Liesl would like to announce that yes indeed, she is pregnant! :) Puppies are expected in around a week. Liesl is doing very well. Pregnancy doesn’t seem to effect her much. She is pretty much the same energetic and happy girl whether expecting puppies or not!

But being pregnant, she is going to have to give up her caffeine addiction for a time. ;)

7 Weeks

October 26, 2009

This is the puppies last week here with me. This weekend they begin to go to the next stage in their life. On to their new and forever homes! :)

They all went in this morning to the vet for their vaccinations and vet check. Everyone is looking good and healthy! :) No reactions to vaccinations. Ella and Trina were the smallest at 11.5 pounds (still 1/2 pound bigger than their mother was when she came to me at 8 weeks old). Niko was the largest at 14.9 pounds. :)

Only one puppy is flying to his home this time. Niko flies to North Carolina most probably on Tuesday of next week. The rest will be picked up this weekend or into next week. All except for Ella, who gets to stay here with me. :) This is the first time I have kept a puppy from a litter of my own and it feels pretty good to not have to say goodbye to everyone this time.

6 Weeks

October 20, 2009

6 weeks old already! Wow have these guys really grown up fast! They are completely weaned from Vreni. She gets to spend supervised time with them everyday and she enjoys playing with them more now that they don’t want to eat all the time. :) The puppies also get to be socialized with older dogs through Robey, Pippin, and Liesl.

Several of the puppies have taken car rides with me in this last week. Gone visiting other people to get used to new situations and people. All have done really well. :) Each puppy gets time inside with me every day where they are learning the house rules and the beginnings of potty training.

Their vaccinations are scheduled for next Monday when they will be 7 weeks old.

Five Week Old Puppies

October 13, 2009

The puppies are now eating their puppy kibble three times a day. They are being fed Purina Proplan, Large Breed Puppy. They have gained alot of weight this past week! This week they also are being weaned from their mother, Vreni. I think it will be an easy transition for the puppies and hopefully an easy one for Vreni. They now range from 7 pounds (Purple Collar Female) to 9.5 pounds (Orange Collar Male). Making this litter the largest at this age that I have had. All continue to be very healthy puppies.

I did personality tests on the puppies this week and was very pleased with the results. No really highly dominant one and no fearful puppies. Most of them tested at 3s and 4s which is what is perfect for the average family pet.
